In a recently published opinion piece in The Hill, IRIS Executive Director Jason Owen-Smith argued that Congress faces a fundamental choice in NSF funding — move forward or fall behind in the race to be a leader in global research and development.
“Today Congress faces a choice: Double down on a trusted, effective agency with a proven history of positive impact on our national prosperity, competitiveness and security, or listen to outdated, factually incorrect arguments and watch while we fall behind the rest of the world,” he wrote.
